Charley A. King, 90, of Fort Smith passed away Saturday, August 4, 2012, in Fort Smith. He was born November 7, 1921 in Fort Smith to the late Clarence and Clara King. He was a former employee of Strange Welders of Fort Smith, former partner of Charlie King and Son Welding and C and K Wrecker Service. He was a member of Cavanaugh Freewill Baptist Church and a World War II Army Veteran. He loved serving his Lord, Gospel Music and going to Bluegrass Festivals. He was preceded in death by three brothers Clifford King, Walter King, Sr. and Bill “Dugie” King, a sister Dorothy Highley and his wife of 47 years Oda Holland King. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Barling Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. He is survived by one son Kenneth King and wife Becky of Greenwood, AR, one daughter Patsy Hassett and husband Phil of Fort Smith, two brothers Marvin King and wife Glenda of Fort Smith and Eddie King and wife Barbara of Fort Smith, two grandchildren Jennifer Barnes and husband Karl of Centerton, AR and J. P. Hassett and wife Susie of Fort Smith and one great granddaughter Madalyn Barnes of Centerton, AR Pallbearers will be Karl Barnes, Wayne King, Tommy Wilson, Guy Wilson, Terry Campbell and Mitch Sykes. Honorary pallbearers will be Manford Barnard and Joe Dan Gray. The family will visit with friends Tuesday evening, August 7, 2012, from 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM at Edwards Funeral Home.
