

Charles (Charlie) Sharp, 67 of Fort Smith, died Thursday, October 8, 2015. He was born February 16, 1948 in Alexandria, LA. He retired from the Fort Smith Fire Department after thirty one years of public service and Fort Smith Public Schools after fourteen years of service, served in the Arkansas Air National Guard 188 Fighter Wing and worked as a professional finish carpenter. He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Jenny Lind and enjoyed spending time with his dog, Buddy Boy, family and friends’ outdoors, four wheeling, setting up deer camp, hunting and wood carving.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Faith Baptist Church in Jenny Lind, officiated by the Rev James Jones, with burial at Barling Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; a daughter, Christy McClellan and husband, Billy McClellan of Greenwood; one granddaughter, Hunter McClellan of Greenwood; a sister, Cathy Shackelferd of Mansfield; a brother and wife, Raymond and Vicki Sharp of Fort Smith, one brother in law and wife, George and Ramona Holland of Fort Smith, four nieces, three nephews and numerous great nieces, nephews, family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Vera Sharp of Bonanza and a brother, JD Sharp of Oklahoma City.
Pallbearers will be Randy McGee, Billy Hodge, Steve Hill, Charlie Townsend, Kenneth Bryan and Bob Harkreader. Honorary pallbearers will be the Fort Smith Fire Department and retirees.
Visitation will be 5:30 – 7:30 pm Tuesday at Edwards Funeral Home.
