Carol Gail Henley, beloved wife of John R. Henley III, passed away on August 14th 2013. Carol was retired from a twenty one year career with Arkansas Mental Health Services in Little Rock. In recent years she served as a substitute teacher at North Side High School in Fort Smith. She touched the lives of hundreds of children and was respected and loved by students, faculty and the administration of the Fort Smith school district. She is preceded in death by her parents, Alfort Carlos Wheat and Ella Fay Hall Wheat. She is survived by her husband, John Henley of Fort Smith, a sister, Karen Kay Ahnberg of Tampa Florida. She is also survived by two god-daughters, Stephanie Richardson and Kelly Wilson both of Fayetteville. Carol was a dynamic lover of animals and held her family and friends always close to her heart. The passing of Carol leaves all who knew and loved her with wonderful memories and feelings of great loss. A Memorial service will be held at her church, St. John’s Episcopal Church , 215 North 6th street , Fort Smith on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 11:00 AM under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. Father Mike Lager will officiate. Visitation with the family and friends will be at 10 A.M. In the Parish Hall of the church with a reception following the memorial service also in the Parish hall.
