

Carol Ann Clifton, 76, of Fort Smith, died December 25, 2012 in Fort Smith. She was born September 11, 1936 in Fort Smith to Jack and Margaret Wilson Patterson Groves. Carol was a retired inspector for AAA Travel, a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church where she sang in the choir, a graduate of Education for Ministry from the University of the South, and the past president of the Episcopal Church Women of St. John’s. She was an avid volunteer of the Next Step Day Room and the Sack Lunch Program, and loved being a part of the Fort Smith Little Theater, the Red Stocking Review and musical productions of Westark Community College. She was an adjunct member of the Order of St. Helena. Carol’s love for music was endless, and singing in the choir was a vital part of her life to the end, we can now say that Carol is an active member of the Heavenly Choir.
She is survived by two sons, Scott and wife Mariko Clifton of Fort Smith and Barry and wife Kathrine Clifton of Little Rock, AR; one brother, David Groves of Fort Smith; one daughter in law Kathy Clifton of Bloomer; four grandchildren, Michael and wife Tiffany Clifton, Eric Clifton, Kati Adams, and Jeni Holland; two great grandchildren, Kylee and Kyzer Clifton. She was preceded in death by her husband Bobby Ellis Clifton, one son, Tim Clifton, and grandson Zachary Ryan Clifton..
Memorial service will be Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 10:00 AM in the St. John’s Episcopal Church with inurnment in the St. John’s Episcopal Church Columbarium. Services and Cremation are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Barry, Scott, Michael, and Eric Clifton, Bob Groves, and Mike Adams.
The family will greet friends in the Parish Hall of St. John’s Episcopal Church following the Memorial Service or in the home prior to Saturday.
