Carol Ann “Mimi” Bateman of Fort Smith passed away on Thursday, August 5th, 2021, in her home. Carol was born June 29th, 1937, in Blaine County, Oklahoma to Norman Zahn Jr. and Gladys Mae Linden Zahn. She graduated from Fort Smith High School in 1955. Carol married her high school sweetheart, the late Coach Ronnie Bateman, in December of 1956.
In her younger years, she worked as a bookkeeper before committing to her passion of raising their four daughters. She enjoyed quilting and playing games with her family. Carol was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and the Belle Point Quilters Guild.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie Bateman and her parents, Norman and Gladys Zahn. She is survived by her four daughters, Jean Ann Sadler (Pedro), Rhonda Sanford (Richard), Karen Hill (Ricky) and Karrie Combs (Justin), her grandchildren, Drew Sadler (Becky), Kayla Sanford (Cory), Brooks Sanford, Madison Hill, Linden and Blakelyn Combs and John Pierce, and her great-grandchildren Jett and Piper Sadler and Ashton and Hudson Locklear.
She was lovingly cared for by family and blessed with the most amazing caregivers, Michelle Rose, Sylvia Barker and Phyllis Houseman. These ladies loved on her, spoiled her, and cared for her every need. She loved them dearly. Carol was comforted, loved, and protected by her loyal Jack Russell Terrier, Charlie.
The family will have a private graveside service on Saturday, August 7th officiated by the Reverend Zeke Allen at Woodlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
