Bobby L. Pendleton, 88, of Alma, beloved husband, father and “Paw Paw”, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 17, 2014. He was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas, on August 6, 1926, to the late William Roy Pendleton, Sr. and Rebecca Vinsant Pendleton. He graduated from Fort Smith schools and Arkansas Tech University, in Russellville, Arkansas, in 1952, where he was student body president. He worked as a sales associate at Sears & Roebuck before beginning employment with the Internal Revenue Service in 1969 and he retired in 1999. Posts of duty included Springdale and Little Rock, Arkansas, Albuquerque, New Mexico and 26 years in New Orleans, Louisiana. He retired to Alma, Arkansas. Bobby was a member of Alma united Methodist Church and the Adult Sunday School Class. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II. Bobby is survived by his wife of 54 years, Phyllis Jackson Pendleton; one daughter, Felicia Pendleton of Alma; one son Randall Pendleton and wife Cris of Corpus Christi, Texas; five grandchildren, Renee’ Pendleton and her fiancé, Britton Riddle of Fort Smith, Bonnie and Jennifer Pendleton of Alma, Randy Lee Pendleton II and Meagan Pendleton of Corpus Christi, Texas, as well as two brothers, William Roy Pendleton of Little Rock, Arkansas and Larry Dan Pendleton of Bixby, Oklahoma. He is preceded in death by two sisters-in-laws, Frances Pendleton of Little Rock, Arkansas and Barbara Pendleton of Bixby, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be 10:00am Wednesday, August 20, 2014 in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Larry Martineau officiating. Burial will follow in Fort Smith National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30pm Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Edwards Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Lee, Andy and Austin Jackson, Hunter Hayden, Pat Widders, Barry Sharp, Brent Riggins and Claude Hatley. Honorary pallbearers will be Jay Detter, Warren Blaylock, Bill Bowles and Jim Harwood. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alma United Methodist Church, 416 Short Street, Alma, Arkansas 72921.
