Billy J. McGahey of Fort Smith, AR passed away on Tuesday, December 26th, 2023. He was born April 15, 1936, in Freer, TX to Sarah and Omer McGahey. Billy was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was also a musician with a great love for country music.
Billy was preceded in death by his wife, LeAnna McGahey, his parents, and his son Billy Hansen McGahey. He is survived by his daughters: Debra Bray of Van Buren, AR, and Teresa Stubblefield of Charleston, AR; his sons: Bobby Joe McGahey of Fort Smith, AR, Bryan McGahey of Lavaca, AR, and Bruce McGahey of Fort Smith, AR; his sisters: Sarah Tally of Shawnee, OK, Virginia Christenberry of Norman, OK, Patsy Tidball of Oklahoma City, OK; Peggy Jackson of Moline, IL; as well as 13 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Billy will be held Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Edwards Funeral Home, 201 N 12th Street, Fort Smith, Arkansas. A funeral service will occur Friday, December 29, 2023 at 10:00 AM, 201 N 12th Street, Fort Smith, Arkansas. A burial will occur Friday, December 29, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Fort Smith National Cemetery, 522 Garland Avenue, Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Billy will be laid to rest in Fort Smith National Cemetery, 522 Garland Avenue, Fort Smith, Arkansas.
