Billy Dean Franks, 71, of Lavaca, passed from this life February 16, 2019 in Fort Smith. He was born, August, 18, 1947, in Charleston, Arkansas to the late Ralph and Verna Lacy Franks. Billy spent much of his younger years at his family’s business, Franks & Sons Truck Stop. He then went on to retire as a truck driver for ABF. Billy had a passion for antique cars and loved attending car shows. Billy’s family would like to extend thanks to the staff and nurses at Fort Smith Dialysis for the care shown to Billy, and a special thank you to Dr. Henry, Dr. Laura Adams and Dr. Loyo.
Billy is survived by his daughter, Julie Sprick and her husband Travis; as well as their children, Trevor and Taylor; his son, Rhett Franks and his wife Angel; as well as their children, Morgan, Madison, Colton and Caden; and his nieces, Lisa Helm, Gina Gammill and Tara Hargrove. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, DeWayne Franks and his wife Kathrena.
A memorial service will be 2:00pm Friday, February 22, 2019 in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel, with a reception to follow the service. Interment of cremated remains, at Mayberry Cemetery, will be at a late date. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Honorary pallbearers will be his favorite son in law, Travis Sprick, Thomas King, Dennis Cole, John Glidewell, Bill Sweeten, Stan McDaniel and Gary Beasley.
The family has requested, in lieu of flowers, to bring a bag of dry dog or cat food to benefit The Charleston Dog Shelter.
