Ben G. Hardcastle, Jr., 88, of Fort Smith, died April 19, 2010 in Fort Smith. He was born on April 20, 1922 in Okmulgee, OK to Benjamin G. Sr. and Bernice Dann Hardcastle. He was a graduate of Fort Smith High School in 1940 and a 1959 graduate of the University of Arkansas with a BA in Business Administration and Majoring in Accounting. She served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the USS Burns in the South Pacific in part of Admiral Halsey’s Fleet. He was always a Banker, starting with the First National Bank of Fort Smith and retiring in 1991 from the City National Bank of Beverly Hills, CA. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Mayor Ray Baker’s Sunday School Class.
He is survived by his wife of almost 63 years, Barbara Turner Hardcastle and was married by Dr. Fred Roebuck in Fort United Methodist Church in Fort Smith on July 30, 1947. He is also survived by his brother in law and his wife, Charles and Martha Turner of Washington, D.C..
Funeral service will be Friday, April 23, 2010 at 10:30 AM in the First United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the U.S. National Cemetery all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Woodrome, Ben Lewis, Chip Sexton, Dough Lively, Kevin Lindsey, and Chris Ashworth.
The family will greet friends at Edwards Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 5-7 PM
