Barbara Mary Delong

Barbara Mary DeLong, of Barling, Arkansas, passed away on August 10, 2023, surrounded by her family and loving caregivers. Barbara was the youngest of nine children. She was born on December 8, 1925, to Anna and Benjamin Cameron in Schram City, Illinois. Her mother died when she was 16 and when her father died three years later, she moved to Brush, Colorado to live with her sister.

She met Robert Milton DeLong (Bob) when he came home from WWII and a lifetime of travel began. They married on December 2, 1947, and Bob soon enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. As they traveled around the world, they had three daughters, Lou Ann, Laura Kathryn, and Cheryl Lynn. They also adopted their first-born grandchild, Alicia Barbara.

Bob passed away on January 16, 2013. Their second born daughter, Laura Kathryn passed away June 20, 2010.

Barbara is survived by three daughters, Lou Ann Porter, of Luther, OK, Cheryl DeLong of Van Buren, AR and Alicia DeLong of Texas: eight grandchildren, Tiffany Strack (Nick), Jessica Moore (Jake), Robert Edlin (Paige), James Long, Matthew Long, Kristen DeLong, William Lee Porter (Krista), and Tamika Phillips (Cory). She is also survived by thirteen great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and one great-great grandson on the way.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 2nd, 2023, at The Vue Venue, 12105 Ward Ave Fort Smith, Arkansas starting at 12pm.
