Arthur Edward Rideout Sr., of Fort Smith died on Thursday June 1, 2017. He was born September 19, 1937 in Everett, Mass. He was an Army Veteran from the 82nd Airborne at Fort Bragg. He retired after 44 years of working for Universal Packaging/Graphic Packaging. He had a strong work ethic and worked his way up from general helper to plant manager of the largest printing facility in the US. After retirement, he spent his time volunteering in the community, especially as a Master Gardener. He was well loved by everyone in the Arkansas River Valley Master Gardeners Society. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mildred; three sons, Arthur Rideout Jr. and wife Gretchen of Fort Smith, Ted Rideout and wife Becky of Greeneville, TN, and Gregory Rideout and wife Kelley of Little Rock; a brother, Robert Rideout of RI; and a sister, Diane Rideout of MA; and eight grandchildren, Emily, Meredith (Woosley), Andrew, Bayley, Hayley, Nick, Kate and Carter Rideout.
Pallbearers will be Brett Baker, Terry Casalman, Andrew, Carter and Nick Rideout and Baxter Woosley.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 5-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Rosary at 6 p.m.
