Agnes Marie Elser

She is preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband of 61 years, Lawrence “Larry” Elser, and son Dan Elser, one brother George Flegel and sisters Irene Binz and Rosemary Stewart. Agnes graduated from St. Scholastica Academy in Fort Smith in 1947. She worked for several years at the Federal Credit Bureau in Fort Smith and spent many years as a homemaker and mother. After raising four children she worked for the Fort Smith School systems at Ramsey Junior High in the cafeteria. Agnes has been a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Barling since 1963 where she was an active participant in the church quilting group making many lifetime friendships along the way.

Agnes is survived by her son, Thomas Elser and wife Sherry of Fayetteville and daughters Becky Young and husband Gary of Barling, Ruth Waits and husband Bruce of Tulsa; five grandchildren, Brandon Young, William Elser, Suzanne Pennington, Eric Elser and Lauren Elser and seven great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Monday, May 23, 2022 from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM followed by a Rosary at 6:30 PM at Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Barling with interment to immediately follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Fort Smith.
