Ruth Irene Van Peteghen

July 7, 1950 - October 2, 2022

On Sunday, October 2nd, 2022, Ruth Irene Van Peteghen of Sherwood Park, Alberta passed away at the age of 72 years. It is with deep sorrow and heartache that we mourn the passing of Ruth, who lost her battle with COVID related complications, but has claimed her victory in Christ, now being seated in glory with our heavenly Father. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, George, her two children, Shawn and Rae, her grandchildren, Hunter, Justus, Sophia, Rebecca, Mikaela, and Gabriel, her brother Ron, her sisters Ella, Rita, and Martha, and many other cherished relatives and friends. Ruth was predeceased by her parents: Bill and Bertha Fleming. Ruth was born in Mannville, Alberta, and immediately took up her mantle of bringing joy to every walk of life, wherever she went. She married the love of her life, George, at the age of 21, whom she loved more and more with each passing year to the very end. She was a much loved Librarian and Teachers-Aid for most of her years, touching the hearts of countless children, staff, and parents, through her unending encouragement and steady supply of hugs. While babies and Ruth were always drawn to one another, she also demonstrated her love of people of all ages through her dutiful service of the church through weekly outreach at senior care centers, and serving as an open-armed greeter. Always looking for a way to encourage and uplift others, thousands knew her love through the beautiful cards she made, filled with personal poems and hand-drawn calligraphy. Her presence will be sorely missed, but her memory will always bring a smile to the lips, and warmth to the hearts of those who knew her.

A memorial service will be held at: Heartland Alliance Church, 53105 Hwy 21, Sherwood Park, AB, on Tuesday Oct 11, 2022, at 1:00 pm
