He will be remembered by his loving wife Stella of 53 years, five children, Kathy Lindberg (Jared), Karen Lindeman (Darren), Lorna Penhale (Aaron), Laverne Penhale, Edward Penhale (Candace), five grandchildren, Cody Lindeman (Chu), Jessica Penhale-Laxson (Josh), Kendra Lindberg (Johnny), Cole Lindberg (Jayden), Carson Penhale, three great grandchildren, Deacon Lindberg, Johnathan Koebel and Parker Lindberg, three sisters Eunice Malo (Rene), Laura Scheers, Nancy Corcoran and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Frances Penhale, two brothers, Richard and Edward Penhale and son-in-law, Sam Laxson.
John was born and raised on a family farm in Ypres Valley District and farmed all his life. In addition to farming, he also worked for the County of Strathcona as an equipment operator and then moved on to work for many years alongside his older brother for Penhale Construction. In his retirement years, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, but did struggle with Parkinson's in his later years of life.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital for their care and compassion.
A Memorial Service will be held at First Memorial Funeral Services - Riverview Chapel at 11090-86 Ave, Fort Saskatchewan (Right beside the cemetery gates) on August 3, 2022 at 11:00am.
