Ben is survived by Linda, his loving wife of 74 years; his children: Judy (Jeff), Jim, Grace (Clifford) and Patrick (Darla); his grandchildren: Nelson, Gina, Victoria (Carter), Mellisa (Scott), Randi (Layne) and Adam; his great-grandson Sterling; his siblings: Richard (Christine), Wing (Joanne), Herbert (Jenny) and Rebecca (Terence) and a number of nieces and nephews.
Ben was born on November 7, 1930 in Hoy Ping, Guangdong, China. Ben immigrated to Canada in 1950, followed by Linda. Upon arriving in Regina, he worked at his grandfather's business, The Loyal Tea Room. In 1961, Ben and his family moved to Fort Qu'Appelle. There, Ben owned and operated The Liberty Restaurant until 1972 when he purchased The Valley Cafe, which he operated until he retired in 1994.
Ben had many passions and golfing was one of them. Ben made many friends of all ages on the golf course. He enjoyed golfing with each and every person, but he especially enjoyed golfing with his children and grandchildren. One of Ben's most memorable moments was when he and his teammates represented Saskatchewan at the 1987 Crown Life Pro-Am Championships in St. Catharines, Ontario.
Above all things, family mattered most to Ben. He always put his family's needs and priorities before his own; from his wife, parents, siblings and children, to his grandchildren and great-grandchild. He was so proud of all of them. Ben was truly a pillar of support for his entire family and his presence, love, laughter, stories and conversations will be greatly missed.
Our family offers heartfelt thanks to the nurses and doctors who provided such great and compassionate care during Ben's time at the Regina General Hospital CSU and All Nations Healing Hospital in Fort Qu'Appelle.
As requested by Ben, a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ben's memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
