A SOLDIER DIED TODAY
He won’t be mourned by many,
Just the few who knew him well,
For his War has long been over,
Though its tales are left to tell.
He held a job and raised a family,
Going on his quiet way…
And the world won’t note his passing,
Though a Soldier died today.
If we cannot do him honour
While he’s here to hear the praise,
Then at least let’s give him homage
At the ending of his days.
Perhaps just a tiny headline,
Just a simple note to say
“OUR HEARTS ARE FILLED WITH
SADNESS,
FOR A SOLDIER DIED TODAY.”
