Eric Hastie

Eric was predeceased by his parents Jock and Jean; wife Amy and his son Gwain.

He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Joni (Victor) Carriere; his grandchildren: Stacey (Cory) Palidwar, Christopher (Taryn) Coulthard and Mason Hastie; his great-grandchildren: Jared Palidwar, Megan Palidwar, Jaiden Coulthard, Savanna Coulthard and Kendyl Coulthard; special cousins: Bonnie (Wade) Armstrong, John (Pat) Hess and Sandra (Ken) Grosse and good friend Tim (Iris) Green.

Eric was born and raised in Balcarres. He was very active in the community as well as serving as the Fire Chief for over 25 years. He started Hastie's Heating & Plumbing and served the area for over 50 years. He was one of the founding members of the Balcarres Lions Club and recently celebrated 70 years of service with them. Eric loved playing sports - baseball, curling, hockey and golf were his passions. He enjoyed spending time in his woodworking shop building beautiful clocks, bird houses and furniture.

He loved flying his plane, especially over the Qu'Appelle Valley. Many happy summers were spent at the family cabin at Katepwa lake. Eric was able to live in his own home and still cooked his own meals right until his passing. Many thanks to his friends, neighbours and the remarkable home care girls who enabled him to remain at home.

The funeral service will take place on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in St. John's Anglican Church, Fort Qu'Appelle, Saskatchewan, officiated by Rev. Ed Dunfield. The interment will take place at a later date in the Balcarres Cemetery.
