He joined the Navy shortly after graduating from high school which brought him to Florida where he met and married Elsie Mae Conrad, the love of his life. After the completion of his enlistment in the Navy he was employed in Fort Pierce, FL by Southern Bell Telephone Company. He transferred to Melbourne in 1965 and retired from Bell South after 31 years.
Bill was an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed the outdoors and gardening and passed on his love for these hobbies to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In recent years he spent the majority of his time entertaining and teaching his great-grandchildren the tranquility and respect of nature.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Elsie Mae, his parents, Kenneth Welder and Sara Yohe Welder and 4 brothers, Kenneth Welder Jr., Gerald Welder, Russell Welder, and Boyd Welder. He will be forever missed by his daughters, Cheryl Cervola and Barbara Jane Estep. His granddaughters Amy Camilo (Jose) and Laurie Blake (Jarvous), his grandson William “Billy” Estep and his 6 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Jane Montgomery and 6 sisters in law, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Services will be held on Friday March 26, 2010 at Aycock Funeral Home at 6026 North US Hwy. 1, Fort Pierce, FL 34946. Viewing will be held from 1:30-3:00pm, and services beginning at 3:00pm.
