Virginia “Ginny” Williams passed away on January 30th in Ft. Pierce, FL. She was 84. Formerly of Westhampton Beach, NY, Ginny and her husband Don spent over thirty years in retirement living in Florida, the last twenty among close friends in Ft. Pierce.
Ginny is remembered by family and friends for her kind, thoughtful and generous spirit always putting the concerns of family and friends ahead of her own. To her former students, she’s remembered fondly as a patient and caring elementary teacher with strict rules yet a reassuring touch.
Ginny was born in Glen Cove, Long Island to Stephen and Adeline Trautschold on November 30, 1936. Her family moved to Orangeville, Pennsylvania in her early years. It was there in the rural Orangeville where Ginny’s lifelong love for horses began with many years spent riding her horse Thunder. After graduation from Bloomsburg High School Ginny entered Mansfield State College where she met her husband of 63 years Don Williams.
They settled in Westhampton Beach where Ginny enjoyed more than 20 years teaching at the Westhampton Beach Elementary School. She had a wide array of pastimes from her card games among her local bridge clubs to Mah-jong, tennis and eventually golf which she enjoyed throughout her retirement. She enjoyed traveling and cruises with her husband Don and close friends. Most of all, she cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Donald, daughter Debbie Lemoine and husband Pat of Houston, Texas, son Bill and wife Shelly of Roswell, Georgia, four grandchildren, Rachel, Ryan, Finnley and Wesley, and her great-grandson Hagan.
In Loving Memory of Donald "Don" Williams
Donald “Don” Williams of Ft. Pierce, Florida, formerly of Westhampton Beach, NY passed away on March 4th at the age of 88. He was predeceased by his wife Ginny on January 30th of this year.
Don and his wife Ginny spent over 30 years in retirement, the last 20 in Ft. Pierce near close friends and family including Don’s brother Harold.
Don was born to Bill and Mary Williams on February 9, 1933 in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania. He was a three-sport athlete at Nanticoke High School and was named an All-State Athlete in basketball, All-Conference and All-Scholastic in Football and lettered in Baseball.
He received a full scholarship in basketball to Mansfield State College where he met the love of his life Virginia “Ginny” Trautschold. They married in 1957 and settled in Westhampton Beach, NY, accepting teaching positions in the Westhampton Beach Schools. Don taught Math at the junior high and History at the senior high over a career that spanned 31 years. He touched the lives of many students and faculty through teaching and coaching numerous sports over the years including Football, Basketball, Baseball and Golf. He was best known as the head basketball coach for 20 years and was respected and loved by his students and players.
Don is remembered by family and friends as a very likable, friendly, loving man who would do anything for a friend in need. His presence would light up the room with his positive spirit and his great sense of humor. He could always be counted on to make you laugh!
During retirement, Don enjoyed traveling and cruising, golfing and playing poker and bridge.
He cherished the time he spent with friends and family, especially his children and grandchildren which he so enjoyed. He is survived by a daughter Debbie LeMoine and husband Pat of Houston, Texas, son Bill and wife Shelly of Roswell, Georgia, four grandchildren, Rachel, Ryan, Finnley and Wesley, and his great- grandson Hagan.
