Our beloved Sonja Denise Ebanks (aka Gabrielle) passed away suddenly on Monday, October 25th at the age of 41. She was born in Evanston, Ill to Clement and Marlene Ebanks, on December 29th, 1979, and raised in Vero Beach, Florida. A graduate of Vero Beach High School in 1997, Sonja has an infectious spirit who then chased her dreams of a career in marketing and attended Barry University and completed her education at the University of West Georgia, in Carrollton, Georgia.
Moved from Chicago as a toddler to Bronx, NY attended elementary school at P.S 122x and then moved to Highland Elementary Vero Beach and graduated from Vero Beach High School. She started at Barry University in Miami, Florida, then continued her education in Carrollton, Georgia. Eventually she moved to California, going to Otis College of Art and Design, pursuing graphic design.
She is survived by her father Clement Ebanks, sisters Marsha Ebanks-Williams and Andreen Ebanks, nephew Robert L. Adams Jr., niece Amari Stewart, her great niece Faith Adams, and nephew Jeremiah Adams, and friends who loved her for who she was.
She is preceded in death by her paternal grandmother Louise Ebanks. Her smile and determination to see any obstacle through will be missed.
In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the memorial fund which will be used to assist with unexpected expenses and to establish a scholarship award for aspiring graphics design students.
A gathering of family and friends for Sonja will be held Saturday, December 4, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Aycock Funeral Home, 6026 North US Highway 1, Fort Pierce, FL 34946. A celebration of life will occur Saturday, December 4, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 6026 North US Highway 1, Fort Pierce, FL 34946. A reception will occur Saturday, December 4, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at 4925 - Aycock Funeral Home, 6026 North US Highway 1, Fort Pierce, FL 34946.
