Born in Canton, OH he has been a resident of Vero Beach to 20 years, formerly of Canton, OH.
Richard attended Kent State University before joining the US Navy during WW II. Prior to retirement he was the owner/operator of Stark Ceramics in Canton for 42 years and served as President of the American Brick and Tile Association for 5 years. He learned to play golf at the age of 7 and was a lifelong member of the Shady Hollow Country Club in Massillon, OH which was designed by his grandfather. Richard had a passion for music, played trombone with the Mel Monaco Rhythmers and Harbor Lights Big Band in Vero Beach. In his early years he was on stage with Don Rickles and was invited to play with the Jimmy Dorsey Band.
Survivors include his wife of 11 years Barbara M. Hoover, sons Richard Hoover, of Miami, FL, Morgan Hoover of Massillon, OH, James Hoover of North Canton, OH, daughter Holly Hoover Fellows of Albuquerque, NM, sister Mary Paine of Port St. Lucie, FL Stepson Scott Robinson of Pompano Beach, FL, Mark Robinson of Amherst, MA and 5 step grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Aycock Funeral Home, Ft. Pierce, on Monday July 2, 2012 From 10:00 – ll:00AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00AM. Entombment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Ft. Pierce, FL.
