Pauline Adassa McNamee-Johnson of Bloomfield, Connecticut and recently Vero Beach, Florida where
at the home of her son, she departed this life on the 4th of November after a long illness in her 83rd year.
Pauline was born on February 9th, 1939, in Christiana, Jamaica, West Indies to the late Ms. Alice Mae
Thompson-Williams and Mr. Stanley McNamee. At the age of 24 Pauline McNamee married Vendryes
Johnson on the 16th of June 1963.
After her primary and technical school education she continued pursuing higher education. She
completed studies at Cazenovia Community College and Hartford College for Women. Since the 1960’s
she has held various positions in the field of healthcare starting as an EKG technician at Kingston Public
Hospital and continuing at Crouse Irving Memorial Hospital and Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, NY,
Hartford Hospital and Mount Sinai Hospital in Hartford, CT. Her affinity towards the care of others lead
to her work in community outreach as a worker for Hartford Primary Care Consortium in Hartford, CT.
Wherever she called home was always a welcoming place with an open door for family and friends.
Pauline Adassa was a devout servant of the Lord, our Savior since her earliest days of youth choir in
Jamaica to gracing concert halls as a soloist for adult choirs at Park Central Presbyterian in Syracuse,
NY. While in Hartford, CT with her mother she sang hymns of salvation and celebration at New
Testament Church of God.
She is survived in this life by her husband Vendryes Johnson, daughters Lois C. Johnson and Lisa S.
Johnson along with her son Leighton V. Johnson and Grandson Hunter E. De Pierre. She is also
survived by her brother Desmond McNamee, her brother Dennis Mitchel, her nephew Geoffrey Mitchel
and grandnephew Lewis Mitchel, her nieces Sharon A. Brooks, Denise P. Brooks, Sabrina D. Brooks her
grandniece Saniah Akua Leila Mireku, Sister-in-law Lynn Brooks. In addition she is survived by her
namesake nieces Dawn Pauline Burton, Pauline “Gem” Atkinson, cousins, Birdie, Josephine, Charles,
Derrick, Errol, Dione, Doreen, Joan, Marion, Marlene, Maureen, Patricia, Delroy, Godfrey, Lexford, Mark,
Ronald and Roy along with assorted other relations. Her brother Patrick Brooks departed this life on
November 21st, 2022 and her niece and namesake Pauline “Polly” Vanessa Brooks passed on the 17th
of September 2019.
Funeral services will be held at Aycock Funeral Home on Saturday December 3rd, 2022.
