Naomi Bintz of Vero Beach, FL formerly of Vineland, NJ passed away March 30, 2019, just four months after the homegoing of her beloved husband, Dale. They had been married 69 years, but she met him when she was only 15 years old at a church picnic.
Naomi is survived by two sons, David (Cynthia) missionaries in Spain and Donald (Devo) of Burbank, CA. Naomi was a loving grandmother to Ryan, Julie, and Kathleen; and her nine great-grandchildren.
Naomi’s father was a preacher and she accepted Christ into her heart at a young age. She was faithful to this decision all her life, living to please the Lord, her husband and her children. She married Dale Bintz after his service in the US Army in 1949. They actually eloped because Naomi’s dad was very strict and Dale was almost five years older than her.
Their first son, David, was born in 1953 and then Donald was born in 1956. Mostly Naomi was a stay-at-home mom, but when the children went to school, she began to work part-time at Sears & Roebuck. Also, she often helped at the printing business that Dale owned with his brother, collating when they had a big order to fill. After Dale built a summer home in Ocean City in the 1960’s, they began spending weekends there and this was a special time for the whole family. Naomi enjoyed being a mom, needlepoint and teaching Sunday School. She was a faithful and active member of West Baptist Tabernacle Church in Vineland where she served for many years.
In 1984, the Bintz's moved to their summer home in Ocean City fulltime, enjoying a retirement lifestyle. Naomi enjoyed cooking the fish that Dale would catch. They became “snowbirds,” dodging the NJ winters, and spending a few months each year in Florida. The area they were drawn to on the east coast was Vero Beach, where the Dodgers trained (Mom was an avid baseball fan), it wasn’t too crowded, and they found a good church in Tabernacle Baptist. They eventually moved down to Florida fulltime and built a home in Lakewood Park.
When the Grandkids were born, Naomi was in her glory! “Grandmom” wrote letters to Baby Ryan, made cassette tapes of her voice reading to him, and came to visit as much as possible. Grandpop & Grand mom were usually present at all of their many activities…ball games, band competitions, holidays, and so on!
Naomi was the epitome of the virtuous woman. Humble, submissive, and served her family well. She survived uterine cancer in the 1980’s, and bravely went through the needed treatments without complaint. Then most recently, she was the caregiver for her dear husband. When he finally passed after a long illness, we believe she died of a broken heart. She will be missed by all those who knew her, especially her family who counted on her faithful prayers.
Services for Naomi will be held on Sunday, April 7th at Grace Baptist Church, 1285 43rd Ave, Vero Beach, FL where the Bintz's often attended the Sunday evening service. Visitation will be at 2:00 followed by a service at 3:00 pm. Interment for Naomi will be at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery on Monday, March 8th at 9:30 am.
