Mr. Martin was born in Washington County, Indiana on June 25, 1924 to the late Marvin Martin Sr. and Maude Martin of Salem Indiana. He proudly served his country in WWII in the United States Army, 4th Armored Division. His tour of duty was in Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland. He served from June 18th 1943 till November 10th 1944 when he was injured in active battle losing his leg in Northern France. He earned the rank of Sergeant and received 3 Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart and a French Croix De Guerre for his service.
After he returned from the Army he began working for the family business, Martin’s Self Serve Market in Salem Indiana. He married Betty Plott on December 26th 1957 and moved to Port St. Lucie Fl. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, motorcycles, cars and racing. He loved spending time with his kids, grandkids and great grandkids. He told many war stories and his storytelling will be greatly missed. He was a Hero to his family.
Survivors include his wife Betty Martin, son Deveron Martin and daughter in law Susan Martin, daughter Sandra Corriveau and son in law Rodney Corriveau, granddaughter Elizabeth Martin-Mazzucca and her husband Nicholas Mazzuca, and two Great Grandchildren, Christian Martin and Gianluca Mazzuca
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 10th at 3:30pm at the Aycock Funeral Home on Floresta Drive in Port St. Lucie
