She was born July 8, 1923 in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada and immigrated to the United States at the age of 16. She married Kenneth Ward in June 1941 and lost him to cancer in 1968.
Dollie and her second husband, Bernard Zahn, moved to Florida in 1986. In her young adult life Dollie worked as an aide in a mental health facility – a job she loved.
Dollie was a wonderful cook whose kitchen was open to all and always filled with the aroma of something good in the oven. She kept a neat and tidy home for her family and friends. She dearly loved all animals, especially her dogs and cats that were spoiled and pampered. Dollie was always ready and willing to rescue any animal in distress.
Dollie was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Kenneth Ward, Sr. of 24 years and Bernard Zahn of 20 years, as well as two brothers, Percy and Howard Beers. She is survived by her children, Roberta Morrow (James) of Idaho Falls, ID; Kenneth Ward, Jr., (Linda) of Augusta, ME: Linda Bodo (Carl) of Port St. Lucie, FL; and Sheryal Atkins (Ralph) of Green Valley, AZ who will sorely miss their mother. Dollie also leaves 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
The family sincerely appreciates the warm and loving care given by the Retreat team at Brennity. So many of you gave far beyond expectations of your job and we love you for it. Treasure Coast Hospice has been there in the worst of times to bring comfort and peace not only to our mother but to all the family.
