As the sun was setting at 7:01 pm on Sebastian Inlet, Florida, Diantha went to be with her Lord and Saviour and her beloved Les “Joe” while listening to the 23rd Psalm read by Pastor Leistico, Peace Lutheran Church, Windsor. Her son Tim and daughter Chrissey were with her and children Leslie, Dan, Lainey, Len and George were in touch with their Mom over the final three days of her life.

Dearly Loved Aunt of many Nieces and Nephews in Canada and in U.S.A. Diantha was a Registered Nurse and a Graduate of the 1952 Class of Nurses at Metropolitan Hospital, Windsor. She was a member of the Windsor Essex Sports Hall of Fame Club 240 Women’s Basketball Team and a founding member of the Hall. Diantha was a Local Basketball Referee trained by Helen Gurney officiating High School games throughout Windsor and Essex County. When her “legs gave out” as she put it, she became a Provincial Volleyball Referee officiating High School games throughout Windsor and Essex County as well as Canadian University and American College Women’s Games. Diantha was a member of the Engineering Women’s Auxiliary, Red Hats and a faithful member of Peace Lutheran Church. Memorial donations to Peace Lutheran Church, 1985 Rossini Blvd., Windsor, ON N8W 4P6 or a charity of your choosing would be appreciated. Cremation has taken place in Florida and a Celebration of Diantha’s life will be announced at a later date. The entire Dowdell Family sends many thanks of appreciation and love to the Staff and Residents at Sunrise of Windsor, Mom Danny’s home away from home these past 4 years and to the Medical Staff at the Sebastian Medical Center Hospital, Indian River County, Florida and the VNA Hospice of Vero Beach, Florida for their kind and attentive care of our Mother Diantha.
