Virginia "Alice" Jenkins

Alice graduated from the University of Alabama, received her masters degree in education, and was a huge Crimson Tide fan. She spent many years teaching, created the Chapter One Basic Reading Program while working for the Lee County School Board, worked as an Assistant Principal, and finished out her career working with special needs students at Three Oaks Elementary School. She was a blessing to many within her musical talent; as she played the organ and piano at local churches and pageants for several years. Alice loved to shop, collect red glass, and enjoyed playing cards and checkers with family and friends. She was known for being a bright and colorfully dressed, well respected independent lady in the community. And of course; she never missed an opportunity to cheer "ROLLTIDE" !

Alice is survived by her children: Carey (Patricia) Jenkins, Joel (Helen) Jenkins, Tom Jenkins and Judy Jenkins; grandchildren: Marissa, Ryan, Kailey, Mark, Gregory, Amanda, Justin and her brother, Carey Ayers. She was preceded in death by her parents and her granddaughter, Rachel Jenkins.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Alva United Methodist Church located at 21440 Pearl Street Alva, Florida 33920 on Thursday April 13 at 5:00 PM. Memorial contributions in Alice’s name would be appreciated to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
