After a courageous battle with cancer, Susette Marie Weiss died on May 4, 2020 in Fort Myers, FL at the age of 62. Her deep sense of spirituality, continuous positive outlook and dedication to her regimented treatment plan allowed her to fight her illness and maintain connections with those closest to her throughout her final years.
Born on June 14, 1957 in New Orleans, LA and raised in Slidell, LA, Susette will be remembered as an adventurous spirit with a passion for photography, travel, scuba diving, the arts, and animals. She was a graduate of Salmen High School and Northeast Louisiana University where she studied Photojournalism, which led to her career with Nikon as a Technical Representative for Medical & Scientific Instruments from 1989 - 1996. She had a love for horses especially which led her into some race horse breeding adventures with Dream Maker Racing.
She is survived by her mother, Dorothy Cambre Weiss & preceded in death by her father, Stanley Weiss. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Steven and Susan Weiss, her sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and Michael Badon, her closest niece Melody Weiss and several other nieces, nephews, & cousins. She will always be remembered by all her animal friends & families that she has encountered over the years while pet sitting.
Susette wishes to spend eternity among the seas, so her ashes will be spread at sea at a later date. The family would like to thank Marlon & Eva Weiss, Belinda Dufrene, Louise Small & all the neighbors who went above & beyond to help her & give her support along the way, as well as the staff and care-givers of Hope Hospice Ft. Myers for their attentive treatment and family support services during this difficult time. The family would encourage any donations in Susette's memory be made to Hope Hospice of Florida or the The Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services
