Stephen F. Lee, 72 of South Fort Myers, FL formally of East Haddam, CT passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, August 6, 2021 after a long illness. Steve was born in Middletown CT on December 9, 1948 to Francis M. Lee and Mildred Wisgo. He grew up in Middletown CT where he attended Woodrow Wilson High School and then moved his family to East Haddam in 1983. In 2005, he moved to Fort Myers, FL where he retired with his wife and dogs. Employed by grocery and freight businesses, Steve was a short haul trucker up and down the east coast of the U.S. Steve is survived by his wife of 54 years, Andrea Saltus Lee; and leaves behind his beloved Standard poodle, Abigail (Abby). He is also survived by his son Stephen Lee Jr. of Durham CT and wife Kimberly Muzik Lee and three grandsons- Eric, Daniel, and Kevin Lee; his younger brother, Kenneth Skomro and sister in law Kathy of Middletown, CT; brother in law Andrew Saltus and wife Cathy of East Haddam, CT; and sister in law Sandy Danforth and husband Phil of Fort Myers, FL. He leaves behind many neices and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Loreen Lee. As a younger man, Steve enjoyed playing softball, bowling, and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and collecting Harley shirts to wear on his rides. Steve would also practice at the shooting range. He loved building RC model airplanes and flying them at a park in Cape Coral. He loved all animals, especially dogs, He became known as the "Cookie Man" for the neighborhood dogs who would come to see him on their morning walks. As Steve worked in his garage with Abby nearby, the dogs and their owners would stop to visit. Of course, the dogs were rewarded with one or more dog treats. A Christain burial mas will be held on September 11, 2021 at 10:00am at St. Bridget of Kildare Church 75 Moodus Leesville Rd, Moodus CT 06469 followed by internment at St. Bridget's cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Gulf Coast Humane Society, 2010 Arcadia Street, Fort Myers, FL 33916.
