
Salvatore M. Bruno, died peacefully Saturday, December 27, 2014, at home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Cerva, P. Catanzaro, Calabria, Italy, he immigrated to America on New Years Eve 1952 and worked in his aunt and uncle's pizzeria before serving in the US Army for 2 years. In 1963, he and his brother started Bruno Brothers Concrete in Absecon, New Jersey, which he continued to operate until retiring to Fort Myers, FL in 1975, where he lived the "American Dream".He was the proud owner of a number of shopping plazas including the Cypress Lake and Bruno Plazas. He enjoyed boating and loved to share the story of how he named his boat "Only in America." A talented musician with a phenomenal voice, he could often be heard singing at his beloved Italian American Club in Cape Coral.He is predeceased by his wife of 34 years, Helen, his parents Angelo and Maria, his sister Angela Rosa Bianco, and his brother-in-law Anthony Ercole.He is survived by his current wife Marjorie, sons Sal (Claudette) and Mark (Kathy), daughters Marianne Cassel (Mike) and Diane Korvanen (Steve), 11 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, his brother-in law Mike Bianco (Maryann), brother Jimmy (Peggy), and sister Filomena Ercole.Visitation: Friday, 1/2/15, 5pm-8pm Funeral: Saturday, 1/3/15, 10am Hodges-Kiser Funeral Home, 9231 Cypress Lake Drive, Fort Myers, FL 33919, 239-481-4341.
