

Robert Lee Sarver, 76 of Estero, FL died April 11, 2015 at Hope Hospice. He was born on Dec. 31, 1938 in Wick, WV, the son of John and Winnie (Morgan) Sarver and was the youngest of 4 children. He was a member of Estero United Methodist Church and entered the Masonic Order in 1962 and belonged to the Mt. Olivet No. 3 - a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, Jerusalem Chapter #3, Calvary Commandery #3 and Nemisis Shrine. His spiritual "walk to Emmaus" completed a profound enrichment on his life in May 2002.
He served our country in the US Air Force for four years. He began his flying career with National Airlines and finished his career with Pan Am Airlines spending the last 5 years based in Berlin, Germany during the fall of the Berlin Wall. After leaving Pan Am he worked in the family business for the next 12 years building and managing Country Clubs until his stroke.
He loved sports and ran track and played football for Auburndale High School as well as in the Air Force. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, flying, Western Movies, antique cars and participated in 3 Coast to Coast "Great American Car Races" as well as racing Porsches in Europe for the Porsche factory.
He leaves behind to celebrate his memory his loving wife of 57 years, Helen (Smith) Sarver of Estero, FL; 3 children: Cynthia (Sarver) Churchward (Husband Jack), John Curtis Sarver, Robert Lee Sarver II (wife Rebecca). Eight grandchildren: Elizabeth Anne (Churchward) Smith, Cassandra Leah (Churchward) Salzman, Jack E Churchward III, Melissa Dawn Sarver, Lisa Nicole Sarver, Robert Lee Sarver III, John Preston Eagle, Gloria Jean (Eagle) Esch. 13 great grandchildren: Kayne Montgomery Cantlon, Liam Alexander Osman, Serenity Faith Irvin-Churchward, Cassara Jade Salzman, Maric Emerson Smith, Rowan Avalon Smith, Miles John Ross, Abel Alexander Irvin-Churchward, Rebecca Diane Eagle, Joseph Odell Eagle, Sarah Eagle, Dana Hill Esch, Jacob Kenneth Esch. Additional family includes: David and Sandy Smith, Betty Bower, Michael Esch, Kate Ross, Andy Smith and countless nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his 2 brothers, Lou and John and 1 sister, Catherine.
Viewing at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park 12777 St Rd 82 Thursday, April 16, 2015 from 2-4 & 6-8pm. Funeral Service to be held at Estero United Methodist Church at 11am on Friday April 17th, 2015 followed by entombment at Lee Memorial Park with Military Honors. Info 239-334-4880.
