Robert (Bob) E. Hamblett, of Fort Myers, FL, formerly of Natick, MA, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2018 at the age of 76. He fought a valiant battle against cancer with courage and dignity. He is the son of the late George and Dorothy (McKeever) Hamblett. Bob is survived by his wife and best friend, Patricia (sweets) Hamblett and their three sons: Sean Hamblett, his wife Kristin and their two children, Kyle and Sara of Brookline, New Hampshire; Michael Hamblett, his wife Amanda and their three children, Finn, Ava and Phoebe of Madison, CT; and Kevin Hamblett, his wife Nicole and their two children, Abigail and Audrey of Seattle, WA. Though separated by many miles they were connected by love and Bob’s (Papa’s) philosophy and belief that “hugs are good”. Bob would proudly brag to anyone who would listen about his sons and grandchildren. They were his pride and joy. His faith in the bonds of family and friends was endless.
Bob is also survived by his loving sister Jane Margaret Caterina and her husband Vin of Conway, South Carolina and his brother Gregory Hamblett of Brockton, MA as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Jack Hamblett of Milton, Vermont and his brother Donald Hamblett of Brockton, MA. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Paul Cordella and his wife Pat of Framingham, MA; his brother-in-law Stephen Cordella of Framingham, MA and his dear friends Al and Norma McEvoy of Wayland, MA.
Bob spent 20 years as a firefighter and EMT for the Weston Fire Department in MA and many more years as a licensed electrician. He was a kind, generous man who was proud to share his talents with friends and acquaintances both in MA and FL. One of his passions was golf and it was a ‘driving’ force in his move to Fort Myers. That passion provided him with much pleasure and many wonderful days with good friends which led to lots of storytelling opportunities. We ask that you remember his giving nature and that you ‘pay it forward’ in his name.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on January,19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Columbkille Catholic Church (12171 Iona Rd. Fort Myers) immediately followed by his burial in the St. Columbkille Memorial Gardens.
