Gene was a fourth generation Florida native and was proud to be a graduate of Fort Myers High School and the University of Florida. He was a talented and accomplished partner at Rivers and Pigott Architects. Many of his projects include Lakes Park, the Calusa Nature Center, Cape Coral Library, Broadway Church of God and many of the schools in the Lee County School District. He was a dedicated member at the Church of God. He was very close to his family and was a great family man and proud Poppy. He enjoyed fishing and playing softball with his brothers. He was a jokester who loved to laugh. He always had construction projects going on at home that often times didn’t get finished.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson and Annie Pigott and his brothers, Troy and David Pigott.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Karen Pigott; his children: Gene (Emily) Pigott Jr., Lu Ann Pigott and Dena (Byron) Whittamore; grandchildren: Joshua and Jacob Pigott, Courtney (Ryan) Toohey and and Faith and Carter Whittamore; siblings: Lavon Pigott Wisher, Marvin “Bunker” (Joyce) Pigott and Vivian Pigott; and his sister-in-law, Gale (the late Richard “Chink”) Pigott.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 20th at 2:00 pm at McGregor Baptist Church in the Hope Building 3750 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers. Cards and flowers can be delivered c/o Gene Pigott, Jr. 11621 Timberline Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33966.
