Some great memories with a great guy! You are missed Mike!

Sandy. I am so very sorry for your sudden loss of Mike. I always enjoyed our conversations and harassing him to drink more water. 
You and your family have been and will continue to be in my prayers. 
I am thankful to have known Mike, just one of those happy people that was always nice to be around.

I have known Mike since my brother, Bob & Mike were in High School together.  He would come over to our house to hang out with Bob. I was younger, but always thought to myself, "What a nice guy!"  Mike never changed.  He was always such a great guy, who  went on to marry Sandi, and they had Kristin, followed by 3 beautiful grandchildren!  You could tell by their yearly Christmas Cards, how close they all were as a "family"!  I have saved all of the on-line Christmas Cards since 2012, and I just looked through all of their cards, after hearing that Michael went to meet our Lord.  Sandi & Kristin & Vic & family, may you continue to be blessed by stories and love from your friends and family, about Michael, and how he touched so many lives along his way! May his love and kindness live on in all of us, as we remember your husband, brother, uncle, father, grandfather & friend from this day forward. Rest peacefully, Michael, may you find fair winds and following seas in Heaven!

A good family man, a good friend, a good police officer and an excellent sailboat captain.  He will be missed.  His trusted guidance was invaluable.  

From high school to first roommate in college. From meeting Sandi to his move to Detroit and then Sandi and Mike getting Married.  Mike has always been a best friend and through the years I began to see he was a best friend to so many. I have never known a person and with Sandi and then Kristen a family that touched and helped so many people. Truly a special person. I will miss him very much. 


Mike and Sandi have been our neighbors in Florida for only a few years, but they have become extended family to everyone. Mike joined our law enforcement group and we all had a very common bond with him  We will miss him immensely. He was a great guy with a great disposition. He was loved by all. Tonight we will have a toast for our dear friend who is now in heaven. 

Sandi, I'm so sorry for Mike's passing. We had such a great time together on the patio at the NiWeHi 50 year class reunion. If there is anything I can do, please let me know. You have my sincerest condolences and deepest sympathies. Having lost my wife, Gail, last July, I understand what you are going through. Losing one's life partner, soul mate and best friend is so difficult and will take time to adjust to the new normal. Stay safe and well and take comfort in your many fond memories. 

Dear Sandi and Family,
I only met Mike once, that was at our 50th Niles West reunion. I remember how he looked at you with such love and passion as you danced together.  Also, smiling and laughing as you danced with our group of women.  You both shared so much joy.  Sending warm hugs. May his life and memories be a blessing. 

Mike was my first boss at ROPD and then became my friend. He would invite me to after work drinks and sailboat rides, treated me like one of the guys. Always had a smile on his face and was just amazing all the time. A few years ago when my husband was involved in a serious accident in Traverse City, I remembered I had Mike and Sandis phone number and knew their daughter lives near there. I needed support and immediately called Mike (he answered the phone!!) and he said to not worry, he was going to help me. This was MANY years after retirement and he was living in another state. He called his beautiful daughter Kristin who was there for me the whole week. Just an  amazing guy and family. You are all ready missed Mike.

Fond memories of ski trips and what a close loving family you are.  RIP Mike, taken way too soon you will be sorely missed.

Dearest Sandi and Family.  I am beyond saddened to hear of your profound loss.  My heart breaks for you. Surrounding you with all my love, healing hugs, and  an infinity of prayers. Baruch Dayan Ha'Emet.  May his memory always be a blessing.  💔💔💔

Mike was such a kind man with a heart of gold and the ability to make you laugh and feel so welcome with him. Words can't express how much I will miss seeing him. I promise to keep the sleepover tradition going with my best friend. Fair winds, Mike, you will be missed.

We’ve only known Mike and Sandi for the last few years and I remember our very first meeting, at a neighbor’s get-together.  He had a smile as wide as an ocean and was always ready to talk about anything Michigan-related.  After our first meet,  I never saw Mike without a smile, a wave, a happy greeting (or his laugh when he heard my singing on the Christmas Bike Ride).  I’ll always remember his last post, he was so happy about getting his pool.

Theresa and I just new Mike and Sandi for two years, but he made it feel like a lifetime! Always there to lend and hand and did not mind having beer or two with me to make me feel good. Will miss you so much and will see you on the other side! Cheers mate!

I was thinking about Mike’s last full day and every day before that. He brought Amy and I to the Airport at 5:45am. Then he had to make sure the Mini was ready for the new owner. Then he helped with cabinets. He was always helping others:) I will do the same, I encourage all who knew Mike to follow his lead!

Mike was a great guy.   Always positive and upbeat.  He would tell stories about his boating adventures or going out with the blind skiers.  He always checked in with me from time to time to see how my family was doing.  He was a descent man and I will miss him tremendously. 

Uncle Mike is a staple in the lives of the Belland family. He never missed saying Happy Birthday, never missed saying Merry Christmas! Mike and Sandi's Christmas party was the best, every year! I could not wait to get over there as a kid. Mike was my dad's best friend. His sailing buddy. His confidant. 

Mike was a wonderful friend and a great person. Mike had made an lasting impression on everyone he came in contact with and treated everyone as if he had known them for a lifetime. 
Mike will be deeply missed by so many. 
Thank You Mike for always being my friend.
May you be sailing in heaven and watch over all of us- wind to the sails my old friend!
