Maureen Rose Jones

Maureen Rose McCormick Jones, 88, of Fort Myers, FL passed away peacefully on Friday, July 21st, 2017 at Barrington Terrace in Fort Myers. Maureen was born in June, 1929 in Newark, NJ to Arthur and Anna McCormick.

Maureen grew up in Newark and Irvington, NJ, and graduated from St. Michael’s High School in 1943. She married the love of her life, her late husband, Robert W. Jones, a WWII Navy Veteran, in May, 1951. After starting their family in New Brunswick, NJ they moved to Liberty Corner, NJ and eventually to St. Thomas, USVI for retirement.

She was a well-read and highly intelligent woman, passionate about her large family and many friends, especially her four grandchildren. Music was always playing in her home and she loved to sing.

Maureen is survived by her daughter, Patricia Jones, of Fort Myers, FL and her son R. Gregory Jones, of Long Valley, NJ; her grandchildren Robert M. Jones of Long Valley, NJ, Jesse M. Kahaner of Arlington, VA, and her twin granddaughters Shannon and Meaghan Jones of Long Valley, NJ; her sisters Anne Sexton, Kaye Helmstetter, Ellen Giorgio and brother John McCormick; and joins her sister Mary Wade and brother Art McCormick in heaven.

A private Celebration of Life will be held in Fort Myers, a mass will be held at St. James Church in Basking Ridge, NJ and a private ceremony for family is being planned in St. Thomas, USVI.

Memorial Contributions may be made to The Barrington Terrace-Fort Myers Employee Christmas Fund.
