Mary was born to Margaret and Arthur Zoeller in Louisville, Kentucky. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and began working for Seagram’s Distillery. She married the love of her life, James (Jim) P. Powell in 1957. Together, they lovingly raised four beautiful children in Louisville.
She had a strong Catholic faith and lived her life by setting a kind and loving example for others. She loved the outdoors and was an exceptional gardener. She encouraged her children to get involved in sports. She could consistently be spotted sitting in support at many tennis practice and competition events. She was blessed with patience and always had a smile on her face.
She had a passion for horses and volunteered for Exceptional Equitation, a therapeutic horseback riding program for individuals with disabilities. She loved dance and enthusiastically supported the Louisville Ballet.
Mary and Jim retired to Sanibel Island Florida in 1997 and became actively involved with St. Isabel Catholic Church. They both loved the island life and the abundant beautiful nature.
Mary is preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years. She is survived by her daughter Kim Dickerson (Rich), daughter Jacquie Petrey (Steve), daughter Grace Payne, son Greg Powell, and grandchildren Sarah Dickerson, James Dickerson (Adina), Katherine Dickerson, Hannah Payne, Olivia Petrey, McGregor Powell, and Lacey Powell.
