Mary was born on April 21, 1940 to John Dunn and Audrey Bliss in Cass City, MI and raised in Bay City, MI. After Mary graduated from Bay City Handy in 1958, she went on to study education at Central Michigan University and graduated in 1962.
She taught mathematics at Bay City Central and Livonia Franklin High School before raising a family with her husband Jim (James) Martin. Mary and Jim Martin got married in 1963, and went on to have 3 children, Eric, Lisa, and Peter.
Mary enjoyed playing tennis, card games, attending lunch groups with her friends at Lexington Country Club, sipping on a glass of chardonnay, and hosting social gatherings in her home. She lived in Michigan, North Carolina, and Florida with Jim, the man she always loved.
Mary was predeceased by father John Dunn, mother Audrey (Louis) Pinney. She is survived by a loving family: husband James, brother James, sisters Kathy (Edward) Langenberg, Janet (Robert) Robinson, and Julie Abraham, children Eric, Lisa (Scott) Somerfleck, and Peter, grandchildren Michael, Desiree (Matthew) Feldpausch, Joshua Somerfleck, and Lauren, great grandchildren Elliot, Madison, Benjamin, and Nora Feldpausch, and many nieces and nephews.
She lived a full, beautiful life surrounded by those she loved. She always provided a helping hand and put the needs of others first. She was known for her hospitality and affectionate smile. She had a big heart and cared deeply for others. She had a great appreciation for music, home design, and cooking. She can see clearly now, and will be dearly missed.
There will be a Celebration of Life held at a later date.
