Martha Elizabeth Mitchell Burns

Martha was born in Maud, Mississippi where she lived for many years. Martha left a legacy of 57 descendants, who loved her and will miss her very much.

She is survived by her loving children: John Burns (Annette) of Lehigh Acres, Florida; Susan Barlow of Knoxville, Tenn.; Robert Burns (Elle Mae) of Lake Charles, Louisiana; Virginia Brocato of Baton Rouge; Deborah Bogan (Steve) of Loudon, Tenn.; Patricia Cole of Fort Worth, Texas; Laura Durst (Robert) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; William Burns of Lehigh Acres, Florida; Sandra Burns of Fairfax, Virginia; Melissa Cillo (John) of Lehigh Acres, Florida; Charles Burns (Heather) of Lehigh Acres, Florida; and Victor Burns (Kaitlin) of Edgewater New Jersey; 32 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren across the United States.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruble Lee Mitchell and Elizabeth Banks Mitchell; her two brothers: Robert Mitchell and John Mitchell; her son, Ira Lee Burns; and her grandchildren: Ethan Byle and Kara Burns.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed time with her family.

Visitation will be held at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park 12777 State Road 82, Fort Myers, FL 33913 on Sunday, October 8, 2023 from 1 pm until the time of the funeral service at 3 pm. Interment will be in Jackson County Memorial Park in Pascagoula, Mississippi.
