October 10, 1950 – November 27, 2021
During the early hours of Saturday November 27, 2021, Larry Michael Richard peacefully passed away in Cape Coral, FL.
Larry was born on October 10, 1950 to John and Viola (DePerry) Richard in Westerly, RI. He is survived by his sister Lorna Thompson.
Performing on the drums, and playing baseball and football were truly happy times throughout Larry’s youthful years. While attending Stonington High School, he loved playing the drums in the small band he and his friends formed, and always enjoyed contributing to a great atmosphere for people to laugh, dance, and enjoy themselves. As far back as anyone can remember, Larry loved the game of baseball. From Little League all the way through high school, he was blessed with the constant support of his mother and sister who cheered him on from the stands. Larry displayed a natural home run swing, and his hard work mentality made him a great fit as a catcher behind the plate. During his junior and senior years, Larry played varsity football. Wearing number 63, he played as an offensive center, and defensive linebacker. His dedication and strong work ethic helped him succeed in the trenches. During his adult years, Larry was a talented welder and worked at a local radio station, Q-105/WSUB, as a disc jockey. He also enjoyed spinning records for parties at the Hilton.
On September 15, 1973, Larry married his loving wife, Diane, in their apartment in Norwich, CT. Their strong bond of marriage would be permanent, lasting over 47 years. He embraced the responsibility to help raise Diane’s daughter Carol, and together Larry and Diane had 3 children. Fred, Cheryl, and John.
Larry was a passionate, dedicated husband and father. He worked hard to support and provide for his family his entire life. With his loving wife by his side, Larry was always there for his children. He took pride in attending practices, games, and every family gathering imaginable. Larry is loved dearly and will be missed deeply.
