Kenneth Richard Larsen, 90, passed away peacefully at his home in Fort Myers, Florida on Tuesday, August 23, 2016. Born October 23, 1925 in Lake Forest, Illinois, he was the son of Christian and Annie (Jensen) Larsen. He was married to the late Jean (Powers) Larsen, also of Lake Forest, IL.
Upon graduation from Missouri Military Academy in Mexico, Missouri, Mr. Larsen was selected to join
the Navy's V12 program. After completing studies at both Dennison University in Granville, OH and
Columbia University in New York, NY, he was commissioned to serve onboard various ships in the Pacific Theater during WW11. After the war, he earned a BS in Business Administration from Northwestern University and worked for over 30 years in Rockford, IL for Central Steel and Wire Company.
An avid golfer, wing shooter and loyal Cub fan, Mr. Larsen was a member of the Lake Forest American
Legion Post 264, as well as Rockford's Westminster Presbyterian church, Masonic Lodge 102 andTebala Temple.
Mr. Larsen is survived by his four children and their spouses, Kenneth and Jennie Larsen of Phoenix, AZ, Cynthia Larsen of Fort Myers, FL and Highland Park, II, Bruce and Lyn Larsen of Rockford, IL and John Larsen of Dallas, TX. He also leaves 7 grandchildren, Paul, Sara, Andrew, Mathew, Katherine, MackIm and Madeline, as well as 2 great grandchildren, Sydney and Kayla. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Katherine Marianetti, James Larsen, Marion Smith, Mildred Sage, Betty Wolden, and Helen Larsen.
