Karen was born in South Bend, Indiana. She was raised in Milliken's Camp which was owned by her family. It was a tourist camp with 18 cabins to give the newly motoring public overnight accommodations on the Lincoln Highway, the first transcontinental highway in the United States, traveling coast to coast from New York to California.
She moved with her family to Fort Myers, Florida, when she was 14, working first at her parents' Mello Cream ice cream stand on Palm Beach Blvd. and Marion Street, then at her parents' hamburger and root beer stand, The Breezeway Drive In, on Palm Beach Blvd. She graduated from Fort Myers High School, meeting her future husband, Gene, on the last day of their senior year.
Karen was a member of the Fort Myers Church of God on Marsh Avenue, where she taught Sunday School for children and adults, worked in Children's Church, and was sought out by most that knew her to ask her to pray for them.
Karen enjoyed reading the Bible and other books, crocheting, knitting, fishing, sports (softball, baseball, football, basketball, ping pong, the Gators, and she was on a bowling league). She also enjoyed card games, yo-yos, wooden toys, giving gifts, working in her yard, plants and flowers, dogs, cars and mechanics, jigsaw puzzles, pocket watches, and she could play the harmonica.
She was close to her family and was a good mother and proud Ge-ma to her five grandchildren.
Karen was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Raymond Eugene Pigott, Sr., her parents, Marvin and Lucille Milliken, and her sister, Sharon Powell.
She is survived by her children: Lu Ann Pigott, Gene (Emily) Pigott, Jr., and Dena (Byron) Whittamore; grandchildren: Joshua and Jacob Pigott, Courtney, Faith, and Carter Whittamore; brother: Bruce Milliken.
