We are so thankful for our friendship with John and Cheryl during the years we lived in Fort Myers.  We know John will be missed very much.  John was always a very kind gentleman whether we were golfing , dining or just partying at Cypress Lake Golf Club. His passing leaves a void in this world for so many family, friends and most of all for Cheryl.  We send our condolences to the family.

Cheryl, when someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure. Where there is sadness, love plants a garden of memories. Wishing you moments of peace and tender reflection and sending you heartfelt sympathy. Embrace John’s memories as they are one of your most precious treasures. 

For me, the memories of John started as a fraternity brother at UConn where he was a wonderful influence. Later, we both joined PMM&Co, and both became partners at KPMG. John was well known and a leader in the firm’s insurance audit practice. I lost track of John when I joined the firm’s governmental consulting practice and moved around the country. It was not until after I retired, moved to Florida, and later learned of you both moving to Fort Myers. It was there you invited us to dinner at your home. Cheryl, you were a wonderful and gracious hostess. It was a blessing to reunite with John.  

Embrace John’s memories as one of your most precious treasures. He was the wind beneath your wings, and now the angels are the wind beneath his wings carrying him to heaven.

John was a gentleman and will be remembered for that.
I had a couple of specific memories about John beyond him always geared up in Balastrol attire.  One was on the 18th hole of Sea Pines course when Johns' golf cart became a runaway and would up swimming with the fishes.  Another was when we were in the weekly big money Friday game when our foursome was on the 18th hole at Sea Pines and all scores counted.   We thought we were very much in the hunt, and John unraveled with an 11 on the hole.  He still remained a gentleman through that ordeal.  Last, he was obsessed with reading the grain and was a master grain direction reader.
Cheryl, we do miss you as a couple and are very sorry for your loss.  He was a good guy and will be missed.  

John was a Partner, Commissioner and most importantly a friend. Easy to work with always willing to listen to other ideas but always making the best decision for the benefit of all the members of the Dossey Group of golfers. He will be missed! God bless his soul. May he rest in Peace.

I was saddened to learn of John’s passing, but then comforted by some fond memories of our times together.  John’s constant and welcoming smile made us all comfortable in his presence - a great guy who was just plain fun to be with.  I smile when remembering his efforts to teach me how to read the “grain” on our SPCC greens.  It’s not that he wasn’t a good teacher - I was a lousy student and so, to this day, I remain the worst putter at SPCC.  I suspect he’d be amused by my continuing ineptitude and smile a bit if reminding me of it.  May God rest his soul and comfort you and family at this difficult time.    Wonderful memories of a life well lived should comfort us all.

Mr. Schramm was one of a kind.  We absolutely adored him here at Cypress Lake Country Club.  Friday dinners began with his smiling face and dinner jacket, a stop at his wine locker, a pre-dinner cocktail and then off to the "date table" for dinner with his lovely wife, Cheryl.  We all feel blessed to have spent time with Mr. Schramm and will keep him in our hearts forever.

For so long, December 26 was Christmas with Aunt Cheryl and Uncle John in the Gianelle household.  Living so far away from the rest of the family, it was always so wonderful to have you visit.  You made the long trip for so many years and I am forever grateful for your company and the memories that were made.  Uncle John and Aunt Cheryl, you exuded grace and class and I learned so much from you both.  

Uncle John, you will be missed so much by the entire Gianelle clan.  

Aunt Cheryl, I am so sorry for your loss and know that you always have us if and when you need us.

Vince and I met John and Cheryl at CLCC.  We fast became friends. John was always ready to dance, to party, and have a good time. We enjoyed many dinners sharing stories, wine, and many laughs. He will be dearly missed not only by us, but by all who have had the pleasure of knowing him. 

I have known John for over 10 years when Cheryl and John bought their first home in Ft Myers from me as their agent. If I was in the community I would stop by and say hello and John would always invite me in and ask how my family was doing and always make me laugh. We were very good friends and he was a very smart business man as well I always listened to what he would have to say. I will miss him a lot a good friend and a kind gentleman.

In the not to distant passed, I enjoyed John's company on the golf course, in the bar afterwards and often putting the world to rights sitting in the living room, either in the USA or the UK
John you will be missed old friend.

John has been a long time friend from New Jersey, to Hilton Head and ultimately to Florida. We have enjoyed many good times with both John and Cheryl over the years. He will be missed but always remembered with good thoughts.  Fred joined John in the Short Hills office of KPMG and become loyal friends and golfing buddies. His loss has created an emptiness in our hearts and our lives.  Our prayers go out to Cheryl and John’s family. 

I met John in April 1967. I had just joined Peat Marwick in Hartford, CT and John was a Supervisor  in the audit practice. We worked together for many years until our careers took us to different offices. We remained close friends over the years...always getting together for the Dossey golf group outings at Ballenisles Country Club in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. I treasured his friendship over many years...may he rest In peace and know that as the “Commissioner” he was loved by a large group of very appreciative members of the Dossey golf group that he so loved. He will be missed and remembered.what a great friend!

If you were to look up the word gentleman in the dictionary you would see John Schramm's picture.  He was always so gracious and loving.  We met John and Cheryl at Cypress Lake Golf Club in Fort Myers, Florida and became good friends.  He loved spending time at the club and enjoyed the Friday night dinners. (always dressed to the nines and looking so handsome)  He would talk baseball with anyone willing to listen, and Tom was always willing to listen being a Red Sox fan himself.  We will miss John's smiling face and warm embrace.

John was an amazing big brother and friend. We had so many wonderful adventures and fun times. His love for his family was unending and so generous! There were happy holidays and vacations that he made special. My last vacation With him was on his 80th Birthday a week in Cape Cod. He loved Red Sox games, music and good food! I learned a lot about insurance accounting, how to manage office politics, and the UConn Huskies. John was my father-in-law which technically just means “the father of one’s spouse”.  But to me John was like having a second dad.  We immediately bonded when we met in Newport in the summer of 1993.  I will forever cherish our long talks covering the Red Sox, business, politics, and most of all family.  I love you John.  Pete 

Thank you for being a great brother. We had many years of being a joy to each other and when we were younger, a pain to each other. But we always had  lots of fun celebrating many special occasions  and holidays together. I will always remember those special days together.

We had the pleasure of meeting John and Cheryl at Cypress Lake CC. John was a great guy, always smiling and chatting away. He loved to party and oh what a dancer! We moved away a few years ago but John and Cheryl remained dear to our hearts. Our prayers are with you and the family. And with John as he passes into Heaven.

I had the privilege of working with John for decades. He was so supportive and so willing to share his knowledge, train and couch those following in his footsteps. And he made it so much fun...while always dressed to the 9’s and annoyed with the politics. Loved our golf outings at Hilton Head...He was so proud that Cheryl was a better golfer! Will miss him forever. 

So sorry to hear of Johns passing, have many good memories of time spent in Hilton Head and New Jersey.

We are so very sorry to hear of John's passing.  Growing up, we spent many Thanksgivings with his family in Norfolk and sometimes in Granby at our home.  Our fathers were brothers so we visited often.  Our sympathy to you all.  Although we didn't see him often in recent years, we still loved him and will miss him.

We remember John (with Cheryl) as new neighbors in Club Course, Hilton Head. He had a big heart, showing his love to everyone, both friends & family. 
Over several subsequent years, John & Cheryl joined other friends watching the Heritage PGA Golf Tournament from our balcony in Harbour Town. He loved golf both as a participant and as a fan. John was always a friendly and generous guest in those gatherings as he was when entertaining  at their home. Ed &Trees Killin

I worked for John for years and enjoyed doing so.  He was just “a poor boy trying to make a living in the big city.”   When he was mad about something he would grab the phone, pounding the number in and declare “it’s time to have a come to Jesus meeting!”   Working for John, there was never a dull moment, and there was plenty of laughter.   Rest in peace, John.
