John “Jack” Joseph Botley , 91, went to be with his Lord on February 1, 2016 He passed peacefully at his home in Fort Myers, Florida. He was born on May 19, 1924 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Anthony S. and Adeline (Stabile) Botley.
Jack grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he graduated from West Catholic High School in 1942. In 1943 he joined the Army Air Corps where he served his country as a B-24 Radio Operator during World War II. He was honorably discharged after three years of service and was awarded a Purple Heart. Upon returning home from the war, he worked for DuPont as a chemist for 25 years. After leaving DuPont, he opened a commercial laundromat called Sparkle Plenty, where he was the proud owner for 20 years.
Jack married the love of his life, Joanne (Parrish) Botley on February 2, 1946 in Beloit, Wisconsin. They were happily married for 68 years. Jack enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family, friends and neighbors.
Jack is survived by his son Anthony H. Botley of West Collingswood Heights, New Jersey; his daughters Patricia A. Dromgoole of Somerdale, New Jersey and Judith J. Delany of Fort Myers, Florida; his brother Anthony Botley of King of Prussia, Pennsylvania; his sister Rita (Botley) Vitale of Cherry Hill, New Jersey; grandchildren Jaclyn, Brandon, Brian, Adam, Elysia, Christopher and Colleen; eight great-grandchildren and fifteen nieces and nephews.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents Anthony and Adeline and his wife Joanne.
A visitation will be held at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park, 12777 State Road 82, Fort Myers, Florida 33913 on Monday, February 8, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Interment will follow the funeral at Lee Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made online to the Wounded Warriors Project, the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (800-805-5856).
