Irene Dorothy Hendry

Irene was predeceased by her parents, George Nottingham and Josephine (Holcomb) Nottingham; her son, Kenneth Hendry; and her siblings, Leroy Nottingham, Georgia Mae Land, and Betty Van Slyke.

She is survived by her beloved husband of over 70 years, Earl Leonard Hendry, who was also her high school sweetheart. Together, they shared a life full of love and adventure. Irene is also survived by her son, Greg (Kathy) Hendry; her grandchildren, Dylan, Bailey, and Nick; her two great-grandchildren; and many other extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

Irene devoted over 35 years of her life to nursing, providing care and compassion to countless individuals. Her heart was also devoted to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, and she was an active supporter of their cause, contributing positively to their mission.

A Visitation for Irene will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park, 12777 State Road 82, Fort Myers, FL 33913. A Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Irene's memory.

Irene will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her dedication to her work, and her kind and generous spirit.
