Henry Edward Weisser, 96, passed away June 3, 2018 in Bryan, TX. He was born on November 12, 1921, in McKees Rocks, PA, to the late Clara (Dapper) & Edward Weisser. He graduated from Neville Island High School (PA) and served in the Navy from 1942 to 1946 (World War II veteran).
He married the love of his life, Ruth (Smith) Weisser on February 15, 1945. Until her death in 2014, Henry and Ruth demonstrated the pinnacle of a true love story. By mutual choice, they were never apart and if anyone tried to photograph them, they would pose in a kiss! Henry and Ruth shared 69 beautiful years of laughter, more laughter, respect, and love. Henry retired in 1979, and he and Ruth relocated to Lehigh Acres, FL where they resided for 35 years.
His life of service was an example to all. He was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church and served as the Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus. Whether frying fish; serving spaghetti dinners; cooking pancakes at the Knights; delivering Meals-On-Wheels; mowing lawns for neighbors out of town; or caring for the elderly of Lehigh Acres, Henry was truly the hands and feet of our Lord Jesus— serving HIM until he was called to his heavenly home.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; brothers, Charles, Joseph, and William Weisser; sisters, Mary Eshenbaugh and Clara Foulds and his son-in-law Mike Skerczak. Henry is survived by his sister, Kathryn (Katy) Howard, his daughters, Patty Skerczak, Megan Palsa (Vern Wilson), and Polly Fontana (Lou Al Fontana); grandchildren, Michael & Mark Skerczak, Albert Palsa, Kelley Johnston, Krystyn Kokan, Kara Zubaty, TJ & Brian Fontana; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Our father, grandfather, brother, and friend will forever remain in our hearts as one of the greatest men to have ever lived. His foundation was one of integrity and honor. He was uplifting, honest, faithful, and true. His jokes were the best—although many of them were predictable—they never grew old. Better yet, if we needed to be reminded that we were loved, we would simply approach Henry and hear, “Hello Beautiful!” When he entered his heavenly home on June 3, we are certain that the first person to wrap her arms around him was his “Sweetheart”, Ruth, whom he adored from the moment he saw her and followed her home one afternoon in Neville Island, PA. Thanks to the grace and mercy of our Lord Jesus, the two of them are together worshiping our God in heaven for all eternity after a life of humility and service; a life well-lived. We will see Henry again, but until then he will be greatly missed. We love you a hundred bushels. “Bye-Cycle”
