Gale Young McBride of Fort Myers died Wednesday, January 11, 2012. She was born in Salisbury, NC and moved to Miami at the age of 19. She was a flight attendant for National Airlines for ten years and after she was widowed, became a real estate investor. Gale was a generous contributor and supporter of many worthy causes, such as becoming a founder of the Miami Baptist South Florida Foundation, The MIMA Foundation and she created the Young Gale Foundation at the Hippocrates Lifechange Center. Having been raised on a farm, Gale also never forgot her four legged friends lending her support to various animal rescue leagues.
Gale resided in homes located in Coral Gables, Fort Myers, Islamorada and Salisbury, N. Carolina.
Gale is survived by her son Daniel (Denisse) McBride; two grandsons, Taylor and Adrian; a nephew, Joe (Julie) Young; and life partner, Buddy S. Klein; two stepsons, Edward (Cindy) McBride and Jerry McBride, four step-grandchildren and many loving friends and business associates. She was preceded in death by her parents, Zeb and Vela Mae Young, her brother, Perry Young and her husband, Edward J. McBride.
A Celebration of Life for Gale Young McBride will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 3 PM at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park, 12777 State Road 82, Fort Myers. Coffee and light refreshments will be provided at her favorite coffee shop, Sweet Bean Coffee Café, 13251 McGregor Blvd, Suite 110, Fort Myers, FL 33919 immediately following the service.
