Frank Courtney Haskell, 93, of Fort Myers, FL died Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at his residence. He was born in Dedham, Massachusetts on August 31, 1929 to Marguerite and George Haskell. Frank is a graduate of Dedham High School and Northeastern University in Boston, MA.
His wife of 66 years, Betty, preceded him in death. Frank is survived by his daughter, Nancy (Randy) Howell of Lone Tree, CO; son, Robert Haskell of Fort Myers, FL; 3 grandchildren, Justin Howell, Aaron Howell and Cassie Haskell; 6 great grandchildren, Tanner, Sloane, Teddy, Luke, Nicky and Jack Howell.
While moving several times in his career, Frank always enjoyed hospital and charity volunteer work. In 1987, the family moved to Fort Myers. It was there that Frank founded the Golisano Children’s Hospital Cancer Fund in memory of his daughter, Barbara, who died of breast cancer in 1995 at the age of 36. He also founded the Boston Red Sox Celebrity Golf Classics in 1994 providing funds for the Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida. Total funds raised for these two charities exceeded $39 million dollars.
Frank was a member of the New Hope Presbyterian Church recently chairman of The Chapel of Cypress Cove.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Beech Grove Cemetery in Rockport, Massachusetts.
