Elwyn Frank Johnson Jr.

Elwyn “Bud” Johnson, Jr., 84, of Lehigh Acres, FL, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2023. He was born in West Fairlee, Vermont on November 3, 1938. Bud grew up in Orange, Massachusetts and graduated from Orange High School in 1957.

Bud served in the US Navy from 1957 – 1961. He spent most of his life in Athol, Massachusetts, and was employed by L.S. Starrett Co. for over 39 years. He was an avid runner, running over 23 ½ years without missing a day. He ran a minimum of 6 miles each day racking up over 46,915 miles.

Bud permanently retired to Florida in 2009.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eleanor and Elwyn Johnson Sr.; his sister, Eleanor Castine, his brother Ronald Johnson, and his son William Forsyth.

Bud is survived by his wife of 35 years, Beverly; children: Daniel (Ruthanne) Johnson, David (Marie) Johnson and Ellie (Tim) Roach, Derek (Sue) Patria, Brian (Angel) Patria and Jennifer (Tim) Wilson; grandchildren: Danielle (Aaron) Foote, Daniel (Alycia) Johnson, Jr., Jen Williamson, Jonathan Wake, Mikaela (Casey) Cavender, Leah Roach, Andrew Roach, Holly Roach, Natashia Patria, Drew Patria, Amanda (Chris) Mahanna, Kailyn Patria, Jacob Patria, Allie Wilson, Jack Wilson, 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A committal service will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery 9810 State Road 72 Sarasota, Florida at 11:30 am on Friday, July 28, 2023.
