Ed was the loving husband to Judith Ann Boone (Shetler) for 55 years. Ed was born in Colebrook, Ohio, on November 1, 1938 to Rankin “Jack” and Sophie Boone. Ed graduated from Grand Valley High School, Ohio in 1958. On Aug 29, 1958, Ed married Judy, his high school sweetheart and soul mate. Shortly after the marriage, Ed joined the United States Army and proudly served a 20 year career (1958-1978). During that time he received The Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service in ground operations against hostile forces in Vietnam (1966-1967) and The Meritorious Service Award for NCOIC of the military police detachment at the U.S. Hospital Camp OJI, Japan (1969). After retiring, Ed relocated his family to Fort Myers and began working for the State Attorney’s Office as an investigator for the 20th Judicial Circuit (1978-2003). After retirement, Ed enjoyed his time golfing, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family.
Ed was a magnificent man with a loving family and will be dearly missed. Ed is preceded in death by his Dad and Mom Jack and Sophie Boone, Brother Jack Boone, and Mother-in-law Betty Shetler. He is survived by his Wife Judith Ann Boone, Sisters Donna, Diane, and Judy, Brother Daniel, Father-in-law Howard Shetler, Brothers-in-law Howard Jr. and Mike, Sister-in-law Mary. His children Pat (Tina), Jimmy, Dede (Jon), Terri (Danny), and Wendy (Kenny). He leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery. The family will not receive visitors and are not conducting a service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Lee County Humane Society.
