Diane Marie Richard

Diane was born on March 7, 1948 to James and Gladys (Christiana) Robinson in Groton, CT. She is survived by her brother David.

As a daughter of a Master Chief in the United States Navy, Diane moved frequently throughout her childhood. She moved from Groton, CT to San Diego, CA, where she discovered her love for horses and enjoyed visiting the Grand Canyon. Eventually, the family made their way back East to Virginia, for a short time, before returning to Groton, CT. She graduated from Fitch High School in 1966.

On September 15, 1973 Diane married her loving husband, Larry, in their apartment in Norwich, CT. Their strong bond of marriage would be permanent, lasting over 47 years. Together they had 3 children, Fred, Cheryl, and John, in addition to Diane’s daughter from a previous marriage, Carol Buck.

Diane was a wonderful, loving, caring wife and mother who always worked hard and made the most of what she had in life. She had a very kind heart and shared that kindness with the family and loved ones closest to her.

During her final days, Diane wrote a goodbye to her family and friends on Facebook:

“Dear Family and friends, I am sending my love and goodbye to you all while Jeopardy is on which should speak to my priorities. My bladder cancer is taking over my body faster than I thought. I love you all… Happy birthdays and holidays to you all. Sorry I won’t be around. Love God and yourselves.”
